I started Reetsot as a return to everything I grew up with. As a farmer’s daughter in Ladakh, I saw how deeply our lives were connected to the land and the women who nurtured it.
With changing times, I felt a strong responsibility to protect what we inherited. Reetsot works with rural communities to grow and preserve high-altitude produce, medicinal herbs and GI-tagged treasures like seabuckthorn and Raktsey Karpo apricots.
The most meaningful part of this journey is working with women from my community who hold generations of knowledge. Through this, we are not just creating products but preserving traditions that are slowly fading.
One of my biggest challenges has been building a business from scratch in a remote region while learning everything beyond farming. I continue to navigate this by learning, adapting and staying committed to the larger purpose.
Looking ahead, I want to empower more women farmers, revive traditional practices and ensure that Ladakh’s food heritage continues to thrive for generations to come.
