A folio number is a unique number identifying an investor’s account with the mutual fund. A swift uptick in the overall mutual fund folios can be attributed to retail folios (accounts for ~95% of aggregate). Retails flows, especially SIPs, through Mutual Funds are more sticky and stable. The global financial crisis of 2008 has shaken investors confidence. The current surge in number of folios and assets indicate stable flows for markets are here to stay.
